Terms of Use

Website terms for IntegrityIndex.co.za

Effective date: 24 June 2026

These Terms of Use govern access to and use of IntegrityIndex.co.za, the Integrity Index website, and any related pages, databases, profiles, reports, scores, methodology notes, graphics, summaries, downloadable material or other content published under the Integrity Index name.

1. Acceptance of these Terms

By accessing, browsing, reading, using, quoting, linking to or otherwise interacting with IntegrityIndex.co.za, you agree to these Terms of Use, the Disclaimer, the Privacy Policy and any methodology or content notices published on the website. If you do not agree with these terms, you should not use the website.

Continued use of the website after changes have been published will be treated as acceptance of the updated terms.

2. Nature of the website

Integrity Index is a public-interest accountability and transparency platform focused on South African public figures, public officials, elected representatives, political office-bearers and other persons who hold or seek public power or influence.

The website organises and presents publicly available information, source references and analytical scores designed to assist civic awareness, research, transparency, accountability and informed public debate.

3. Informational use only

The website is provided for general informational, public-interest, research and civic-awareness purposes only. It does not provide legal, financial, investigative, electoral, political, compliance, governance, professional or other advice. You remain responsible for your own interpretation, verification and use of the information.

4. Evidence-based content

Integrity Index aims to base profiles and scores on publicly available information, official records, public registers, court records, parliamentary documents, regulatory records, commission reports, civil society reports, reputable media sources and other sources considered relevant to public accountability.

Every material adverse claim should, where possible, be linked to a source or supported by source metadata. Users should consult the original source material before relying on a summary, score, profile or classification.

5. Allegations, investigations, charges and convictions

The website may refer to allegations, complaints, investigations, inquiries, formal charges, court proceedings, official findings, ethics findings, judgments, convictions, withdrawals, dismissals, acquittals, corrections or right-of-reply material.

You agree not to treat an allegation, investigation, complaint, media report, inquiry or charge as proof of guilt. A person is not represented as guilty of criminal or unethical conduct unless the profile expressly identifies a conviction, judgment, formal finding or other legally recognisable determination and cites the relevant source.

6. Scoring and methodology

Integrity Index may publish an integrity, accountability, risk, transparency or similar score. The score is an analytical output based on a structured methodology and available evidence. It is not an official rating, legal finding, proof of wrongdoing or complete measure of a person's integrity.

The methodology may consider categories such as convictions, charges, official investigations, adverse findings, parliamentary ethics matters, declarations of interest, conflicts of interest, credible media reports, source reliability, seriousness, recency, repetition, resolution, correction and confidence level.

The methodology, categories, weights, confidence rules, publication rules and display format may be changed from time to time. Scores may be recalculated or corrected without prior notice.

7. User obligations

You agree that you will not:

  • misrepresent allegations, investigations or charges as convictions or proven facts;
  • quote, screenshot, republish or summarise website content in a misleading, distorted or out-of-context manner;
  • use the website to harass, threaten, intimidate, defame, dox, stalk, discriminate against or unlawfully target any person;
  • use automated tools to overload, scrape, copy, reverse engineer, replicate or extract the website, database or scoring system without written permission;
  • interfere with the security, availability, integrity or functioning of the website;
  • submit false, malicious, misleading, unlawful, abusive or irrelevant correction requests, notices or information;
  • use the website or its content for any unlawful purpose.

8. Right of reply and corrections

A person named on the website, or any person with relevant information, may request a correction, clarification, update, right of reply or review by emailing info@futureinsights.co.za.

A request should identify the relevant page, profile, statement, score or source reference; explain the issue; and provide supporting documents or links. Integrity Index may review the request, update the relevant profile, add context, publish a right of reply, correct an error, record a dispute, amend a score, or decline the request where the request is unsupported, abusive, irrelevant, repetitive or inconsistent with the public-interest purpose of the website.

9. Third-party links and sources

The website may link to third-party websites and source materials. Integrity Index does not control those third-party websites and is not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy, security, privacy practices, editorial choices or changes.

A link to a third-party source is provided for reference and verification. It does not imply endorsement of the third-party source or agreement with every statement contained in that source.

10. Intellectual property and permitted use

The Integrity Index name, website structure, design, scoring model, original summaries, methodology, visual presentation, database arrangement, classifications and original materials are owned by or licensed to Integrity Index or Future Insights, except where third-party rights apply.

You may read, share links to and quote limited extracts from the website for lawful public-interest, educational, research, journalistic, commentary or civic purposes, provided that you do not distort the meaning and that you acknowledge Integrity Index and the relevant underlying sources.

You may not copy, mirror, scrape, redistribute, resell, commercially exploit, bulk-download, train a competing dataset from, or create a substantially similar database or scoring product from the website without prior written permission, unless permitted by law.

11. Availability, security and technical operation

Integrity Index does not guarantee that the website will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, error-free, fast, complete or compatible with every device or browser. The website may be unavailable because of maintenance, hosting issues, cyber incidents, technical failures, data updates, legal review, security controls or other reasons.

12. AI-assisted systems and scheduled updates

The website may use AI-assisted tools, automated classification, scheduled update jobs, data extraction scripts and other software systems. These systems are used to assist with research, structuring, monitoring and scoring, but they may make errors or miss context. Integrity Index may correct, amend, reverse, remove or review AI-assisted outputs at any time.

13. No liability for reliance or use

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Integrity Index, Future Insights and their operators, contributors, contractors, agents, suppliers and related persons are not liable for any loss, damage, cost, claim or consequence arising from access to, use of, inability to use, reliance on, interpretation of, republication of, or action taken in response to the website or its content.

This includes direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, reputational, political, economic, commercial, data-related, legal or other losses, whether caused by error, omission, delay, source unavailability, scoring change, user interpretation, third-party conduct, technical failure or any other cause.

14. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Integrity Index, Future Insights and their operators, contributors, contractors, agents, suppliers and related persons from any claim, loss, damage, liability, cost or expense arising from your misuse of the website, breach of these Terms, unlawful conduct, misleading republication of content, unauthorised scraping or infringement of third-party rights.

15. Changes to the website and Terms

Integrity Index may update, correct, suspend, remove, archive, restrict or change any profile, score, feature, source reference, methodology, policy or page at any time. Integrity Index may update these Terms of Use from time to time. The updated version will apply from the date it is published unless stated otherwise.
